Party-goers and social media enthusiasts will enjoy the first Snapchat Party in Kigali on Friday, 24 June 2016 at the rooftop of Makuza Peace Plaza downtown.
Snapchat is the third most popular social networking site among millennials globally. It has fast made its way to our daily means of communication and storytelling. Many young Rwandans are using the platform to share moments, stories and experiences with each other and other Africans through curate and personal accounts.
Inkuba Group, a startup company which organises the party, aims to create events that offer people from all walks of life top-level, authentic services and experiences.
“It is an occasion for Rwandans on Snapchat to meet and interact,” Gwiza Shanice, a spokesperson for Inkuba told The Kigalian. “It is also an opportunity for users to show off their moments in events and nightlife in their own country, facilitating a chance in the perception, usually negative, of events in Rwanda.”
We want to create a benchmark in the events creation, Gwiza says, where we emphasize on personalised experience and moments.
There will be free Wi-Fi at the venue and music by Dj Toxxyk (Rwanda) and Dj Trick Triick (Burundi/Canada). Only people aged 21 and above will be allowed to enter. The party starts at 7:00 p.m. Entrance is five thousand Rwandan francs (Rwf 5,000).
