Sunday Night Music: Mike Kayihura

Mike Kayihura performed and live-recorded his forthcoming extended play (EP) record at a new series of acoustic evenings last Sunday. At Bougainvilla, in Nyarutarama, an audience of fans and very enthusiastic listenership cheered to the twenty-five-year-old who placed his fingers to an electronic piano keyboard and led his voice to a fixed microphone.

Mike did not disappoint, as always, and I particularly loved listening to Kicukiro Late 90’s and Don’t Let Them Know. When it’s out, you, too, will love listening to the songs.

As splendid as it all got, however, the evening reminded me of Mike’s very best: his cover of Genda Rwanda Uri Nziza.

Another one of my favourites is ‘Hey Laura’.
