Uwimana Francine, a resident of Gicumbi district, was awarded Thursday with stock worth 4 million Rwandan francs, to start up her business as an MTN vendor; including a fully branded kiosk, an MTN Mobile Money float, phones and airtime. She is the company’s 400th subscriber.

Chief marketing Yvonne Manzi Makolo explains the company “could think of no better way to celebrate this accomplishment of having 4 million customers than by thanking and awarding those who made it possible: our customers.”

Thrilled at having MTN visit and award her, Uwimbabazi expressed her gratitude, saying:

I am overjoyed and very thankful to MTN for giving me a chance to finally own a business. This shop will not only sustain my family and me, but it will also enable my community to stay connected at all times.

MTN remains the country’s leading telecommunications company, and it said the occasion also “highlights our commitment to connecting and empowering societies.”
