Rwanda’s First Daughter, Ange Kagame, tweeted Sunday to her father, President Paul Kagame, to wish him a happy fathers’day. “Among the many hats you wear, ” reads part of her tweet, “you’ve done the best job as a father.”

Second child and sole daughter of President Kagame, Ange’s relationship with her father has always been described as “close” and they have, at times, shown this in public, including on social media.

Just last March, Ange tweeted to President Kagame to warn him that it’s late; and he replied:

@AngeKagame ha ha not very late yet, given the usual…but thanks for the early warning, will soon be winding down!!!!! Take care.

On many occasions, President Kagame has mentioned her daughter in his speeches, both in Rwanda and abroad. For instance, in a speech delivered to Ugandan young achievers back in December 2011, the President quotes Ange’s BBM status, which he describes as inspiring.

With over 28.7 thousand followers, Ange is one of the most active Rwandans on Twitter. She generally tweets about events, sports (mainly football and basketball),  comments on her favourite TV shows and causes that are of interest to her, including women and youth empowerment. Her tweet on Fathers’ Day attracted over 100 retweets on Sunday.
