Rwandan Cyclist Wins Gold Medal At All-Africa Games
Janvier Hadi has won Rwanda’s first gold medal in non-Paralympic sports with a victory in the men’s road race on Sunday at the All Africa games taking place in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.
He had been a constantly at the front of the race, leaving his rivals behind on an impressive scale. The Benediction club rider crossed the line in 03:29:37’, 31’ seconds ahead of South African Butler Reynard and Algerian Barbari Adil.
“Am very happy we reached our goal,” he said. “My team mates were fantastic today, I couldn’t win without their help. We were riding against top riders.”
Team Rwanda had secured a bronze medal just a few days after this record.
